Soccer vocabulary

  1. Coach- person who trains the players.
  2. Referee- person who must watch carefully for infractions during the game.
  3. Substitute- person who takes the place of a player when the player gets hurt.
  4. Penalty kick- Right given to a player from opposing team to a free kick.
  5. Goalkeeper- must keep the ball out of the goal.
  6. No of players in each team- 11.
  7. In soccer, players have to kick the ball as far as possible. The teams that scores more goals wins the game.

Baseball terms

  1. Pitcher- Person who throws ball.
  2. Diamond- Shape of infield area.
  3. Batter- Person who tries to hit the ball.
  4. Home plate- Place where batter stands.
  5. Catcher- person who sits behind the home plate & tries to catch the pitched balls.
  6. Home run- if the batter hits the ball, runs around the bases & to homeplate.
  7. A Strike- If batter misses the thrown ball, its called strike.
  8. A Ball- If pitcher’s throw is too low, too high or too wide.
  9. Umpire- person who decides if its a strike or a ball?
  10. A walk- when the pitcher throws 4 balls & the batter goes to first base.
  11. Inning- 1round of play. There’re 9innings in a game.
  12. Batter is out- If batter has 3strikes or if tagged before he reaches the base.

  1. Also known as pocket computers or palmtop computers, palm pilot.
  2. Many uses: calculator, clock, calendar, access internet, intranet, extranet via wi-fi or WWANS(wireless wide area networks, for  emailing, video recording, typewriting, word processing, as address book, scanning barcodes, as radio or stereo, playing comp games, GPS(global positioning system), as mobile phones, web browsers, portable media players.
  3. They have touch screens for entering data, a memory card slot for data storage & for connectivity IrDA or bluetooth or wifi
  4. Includes software for appointment calendar, to do list, address book for contacts & some sort of note prog.
