Homeopathy for Measles

September 4, 2007 RENU

Highly contagious, starts with cold like symptoms including possible cough, sorethroat but what distinguishes in the early stages is strong eye symptoms with light sensitivity, presence of white dots surrounded by a red halo inside cheek before rash erupts. This rash starts on head & neck, spreads down to limbs. Typically, reddish brown or purple raised bumps, mildly itchy. Fine peeling of skin occurs as infection clears in 4-7days & person is no longer contagious to others. Untreated, fevers can go as high as 104F.

German measles(rubella) has flatter, finer red blotchy rash that lasts for only 3days. Glands swollen. So need throat & gland remedies.

Prevention: Pulsatilla, sulphur during outbreakes or after exposure. Or even acon, bell, gels depending on symp’s.

1. Euphrasia: If symp’s r centered on eye
2. Acon: If fever with more dryness & thirst.
3. Bell: If fever, feels hotter.
4. Morbillinum 30 or 200c: For vaccinated child so antidotes -ve suppressive effects that the vaccine is having on immune system.
5. Sulphur: single dose at end of any measles to finish it off.

Use 6, 12, 30 x or c every 2-3hrs, gradually reducing to 3times daily, then once per day.
