Home remedies
- Acid stomach: Try eating smaller meals freq’tly & avoid midnight snacking. Eat plenty of fresh fruits & veggies, avoid hot spices, alcohol, coffee, carbonated drinks.
- Acne: Better leave it alone. But, if you must, pop with sterile guaze, rinse well with h20 to prevent spread of infection. Wash mor & ev with oil-free cleanser/mild soap. Excercise to aid circulation & elimination. Use deodorants instead of antiperspirants, as the latter s’times inhibit elimination by blocking sweat glands. Eat whole foods, fruits & veggies. Avoid fats, sugars, junk food. Increase Zn intake by eating fish, whole grains, cereals.
- Allergy/hay fever/rhinitis: Vacuum carpets often, exercise freq’tly. VitC with biflavanoids acts as a natural antihistamine. Take pollen supplements few wks before the season starts for prevention.
- Blisters: Apply petroleum jelly to areas of skin that are most likely to be affected. Wear thick cotton socks for sports. If u’ve blister, try to let it heal on it’s own. If about to burst, puncture with sterilized(with alcohol or flame) needle, trying to keep the skin intact. Bandage it by day & let it breathe & dry out at night.
- Boils: Indicate inadequate diet/Zn deficiency.
- Burns: Hold burn under warm to cool h20(very cold h20 may change a 2degree to 3degree burn). Apply lavender oil, cover with sterile dressing. Repeat application every 24hrs. Aloe vera juice is known to reduce pain & promote healing of burns.
- Cold: Low fat, high fiber diet helps boost immune system. Take vitC foods like citrus, melons etc.
- Conjunctivitis: Highly infectious, so don’t share towels, etc. Cover eyes with cool, moist tea bag to soothe the itch. Wash eyes gently with warm h20 & apply topical medicines per doctors advice.
- Cough: Honey+tea+lots of ginger.
- Flu: Don’t underestimate it as rarely it can be deadly too. Take vit C & Zn. Avoid aspirin during illness. Get flu shot.
- Hangover: Taking B-complex vits before party may help. Drink plenty of h20 to avoid dehydration. Eating carbs may help relieve symptoms. Or whip together a banana+1gl milk+honey.
- Ingrown toenail: Can hurt, so worth avoiding. Mostly due to incorrect cutting or stubbing. Soak nails 1st to soften, cut straight across, not in oval shape.
- Laryngitis: Drink warm, soothing tea+honey often & rest your voice. Don’t whisper as strains voicebox more than talking. Avoid smoking.
- Lyme disease: To prevent tick bites, cover urself when in grass, woodlands or scrub. Wear shoes, socks, long pants, etc & wear insect repellent, esp’lly around ankles. If u find a tick feeding on u, don’t try to pull it out or wipe it off b’cos it’s mouth part may stay in ur skin. Once it’s out, wash area for few wks. If any redness develops in the area, see doctor imm’ly.
- Menstrual cramps: Take a warm bath or hold a hot h20 bottle/castor oil pack against abdomen. Take vit B6 daily. Do yoga.
- Nosebleeds: If coming freq’tly, increase intake of vitC as strengthens bl.vessels.
- PMS: Take vit B6, vitE, Mg.
- Sore throat: Drink plenty of fruit juices, avoid milky drinks. Take vitC, Zn. Gargle as many times possible salt h20/lemon h20. Drink tea with honey & lemon.
- Sty: Get few of these when imminity is low. Take Zn, vitC. Pluck off offending eye-lash. Place a cold, soaked teabag over sty. Apply warm compresses often & use topical antibiotics.
- Sunburn: Apply aloe vera gel & take a cool shower. Apply baking soda+fine oatmeal/vinegar+h20 to skin for sootheness. Calamine lotion & OTC creams are helpful too.

Eye exercises
Eye exercising will keep your eyes healthy and help minimize eyestrain.
- It’s more important to do the exercises regularly than to do them for a long time. Even 30-60 seconds of eye movement every hour is very helpful.
- Taking short breaks from near work (e.g. staring at a computer monitor) to stare out to the distance also relieves some strain.
- Palming is a good method to help your eyes feel better. You close your eyes and put you palms over them, this will rest your eyes.
- Blink the eyes many times.
- Splash your eyes with cold water repeatedly when feasible, and especially when your eyes are strained.
- Sit comfortably on a chair. Rub your hands together until they feel warm. Close your eyes and cover them lightly with your cupped palms. Avoid applying pressure on your eyeballs. Place your palms so that the nose remains uncovered, and the eyes remain behind the slight hollow of the palms. Make sure that no light rays enter the eyes, and leave no gaps between fingers or between the edge of the palms and the nose. You may still see other lingering traces of colors. Imagine deep blackness and focus on the blackness. Take deep breaths slowly and evenly, while thinking of some happy incident; or visualize a distant scene. After your eyes see nothing but blackness, remove your palms from your eyes. Repeat the palming for 3 minutes or more.
- Close your eyes tightly for 3-5 seconds, then open them for 3-5 seconds. Repeat this 7 or 8 times.
- Close your eyes and massage them with circular movements of your fingers for 1-2 minutes. Make sure you press very lightly; otherwise, you could hurt your eyes.
- Press three fingers of each hand against your upper eyelids, and hold them there for 1-2 seconds, then release. Repeat 5 times.
- Sit and relax. Roll your eyes clockwise, then counter-clockwise. Repeat 5 times, and blink in between each time.
- Sit about 6 inches (200 mm) from the window. Make a mark on the glass at your eye level (a small sticker, black or red, would be perfect). Look through this mark and focus on something far away for 10-15 seconds; then focus on the mark again.
- Hold a pencil in front of you at arm’s length. Move your arm slowly to your nose, and follow the pencil with your eyes until you can keep it in focus. Repeat 10 times.
- Look in front of you at the opposite wall and pretend that you are writing with your eyes, without turning your head. It may seem difficult at first, but with a bit of practice it is really fun. The bigger the letters, the better the effect.
- Imagine that you are standing in front of a really big clock. Look at the middle of the clock. Then look at any hour mark, without turning your head. Look back at the center. Then look at another hour mark. Do this at least 12 times. You can also do this exercise with your eyes closed.
- Focus on a distant object (over 150 feet or 50 m away) for several seconds and slowly refocus your eyes on a nearby object (less than 30 feet or 10 m away) that’s in the same direction. Focus for several seconds and go back to the distant object. Do this 5 times.
- Focus on an object in the distance (as far as possible) with a low contrasting background. Do this for a few minutes every half hour or so. This does not improve your vision, nor does any other technique. It can, however, maintain your best eyesight level during the day and prevent significant further vision deterioration.

Thus it was referred to as a mucous membrane “alterative”, increasing deficient flow but decreasing excessive flow.

Handling stress
- Relax- Do yoga, meditation, deep breathing, msg therapy, listen to soothing music or read a book or sleep.
- Make time for urself- Take bubble bath, go for a walk, call friend
- Eat right.
- Get moving- During which ur body releases endorphins which relieve stress & improve mood
- Talk to a therapist- to find better ways to deal with ur problems. Get medications that can help ease anxiety etc symptoms.
- Compromise- Its not worth the stress to argue. Give in once in a while.
- Write down ur thoughts in journal- Great way to get things off ur chest & work through issues. U can read them back later & see how u’ve made progress.
- Help others- So it would help u. or volunteer in ur community.
- Get a hobby- Give time to explore ur interests.
- Set limits- With urself & others. Dont be afraid to say NO to requests for ur time & energy.
- Plan ur time ahead- write a to-do list. Figure out what’s most imp to do.
- Dont deal in unhealthy ways- like drinking, drugs, smoking etc.

Fruits facts
- Some fruits contain sugars that are easily absorbed into bloodstream, while in other fruits may ferment & cause gas to build up in intestines. This is hard on an intestinal lining if already irritated by allergens or viruses.
- Higher the glucose-to-fructose ratio, the more intestinal-friendly the fruit. The most intestines-friendly fruit, esp’lly when suffering from diarrhea is white grapes since contain equal amounts of fructose & glucose. High glucose helps all the fructose be absorbed so little is left over to ferment into intestinal gas. And, white grape j contains no sorbitol.
- Most kind to intestines: White grapes, st.berries, r.berries, blackberries, pineapple, orange.
- Least kind: Prunes, pears, sweet cherries, apples, peaches. They have a higher fructose-to-glucose ratio, some contain sorbitol, some have higher levels of fiber. If u’ve constipation or sluggish bowels, then take j’s of prune & pear nectar.
- Though not as nutrient-dense as vegs, fruits r an imp source of vits, minerals & enzymes.
- Nutrients that 1fruit lacks, another fruit provides.
- Fructose is the principle sugar in most fruits, though sucrose is the principle sugar in others, such as oranges, melons, peaches.
- Fructose is absorbed slowly into bloodstream, so fruit gives u energy without triggering the ups & downs of insulin cycle.
- Parfait: Fruit pcs, chopped nuts, raisins, wheat germ + curd.
- Apple gets an A+ in fiber content, since they contain a lot of soluble fiber pectin, that helps to lower cholesterol. They also contain some cancer-fighting flavenoids. Eating a whole apple is more nutritious than drinking apple j, since the fiber, vits, minerals may be processed out of the j’s. When the flesh of an apple turns brown means some of the nutrients have oxidized & r lost.
- Apricot. 5apricots contain around the same no of cals as 1apple, but they have much more protein, ca, iron, vit K, zinc, vit A, folic acid. They’re high in beta carotene, K, fiber.
- Avocado. More nutritious than any other fruit as high in protein, fiber, niacin, thiamin, riboflavin, folic acid, zinc, heart-healthy monounsaturated fats with no cholesterol, Omega 3 fatty acids. Avocados ripen after picking. Buy when it is under-ripe, i.e firm but not hard, store at room temp 3-4days until soft enough to dent on squeezing. To speed ripening, place in a paper bag & store at room temp. Including an apple in the bag speeds up the process even more. Include l.j in guacamole to keep it from turning brown. avocado Sandwich: for growing children & genetically lean adults. Whole wheat bread, a thin layer of peanut butter, thinly sliced tomatoes, a thick layer of guacamole, mound of alfalfa sprouts, thin layer of lowfat mayonnaise.
- Banana. Contain lot of K, so eating a daily banana is helpful to people on certain medications, such as diuretics, which may deplete the body of K.
- Blueberries. Have an antioxidant, cancer-fighting phyto, called anthocyanin. Are excellent for making smoothies.
- Boysenberries. great source of fiber.
- Cantaloupe. high in vit C, beta carotene, K.
- Cherries. sour cherries contain more beta carotene than sweet cherries.
- Dates. good source of fiber, iron, niacin.
- Figs, dried. high in cals, carbs, but also high in calcium, fiber, protein, K. Excellent snack.
- Grapefruit. low in cals, high in fiber, vit C. Pink or red variety is rich in beta carotene. 1/2 the fiber is insoluble type (good for intestines), & other 1/2 is soluble pectin fiber (good for heart).
- Grapes. skin of red & purple grapes contain cancer-fighting anthocyanin pigments. Green, seedless grapes are not exactly nutritional standouts, but kids love to snack on them. Grape skins contain resveratrol, a substance that can lower cholesterol & prevent fats in bloodstream from sticking together & clogging arteries. Eating grapes, drinking dark grape j that is made with skins, or eating raisins may be just as heart-healthy as drinking red wine, without the health hazards of alcohol.
- Guava. Rate high among the fruits for fiber & vit E.
- Honeydew melon. is not nearly as nutritious as cantaloupe.
- Kiwi. great source of vit C. Halve, eat with spoon.
- Lemon & lime. moderately good source of vit C. Lemons contain 1/3rd more vit C than limes. Add flavor to dishes when u’re cutting back on salt. Lemon acts like an antioxidant to keep cut fruit from quickly oxidizing (turning brown & loose freshness).
- Mango. high in fiber, beta carotene, vit C
- Orange. High vit C content, folate, fiber, some calcium. As with grapefruit, white membrane under skin contains more vitC than flesh & a lot of pectin fiber.
- Papaya. High in calcium, folic acid, vit C, fiber, carotenoids.
- Peach. Best peaches r tree-ripened. Contain some carotenoids & a tiny bit of vit C.
- Pear. A high sorbitol content, plus extra fiber, makes pears ideal for persons suffering from constipation. Most of the vit C in pears is concentrated in the skin.
- Persimmons. high in fiber, carotenoids, vit A. Some varieties r extremely high in vit C.
- Pineapple. highest in manganese, has dig enzymes, as does papaya.
- Plum.contains a bit of carotenoids, some vitC.
- Prunes. contain at least some of many diff imp vits & minerals. High in fiber(1/2 of it the soluble type), protein, K, vit A, vit E, calcium, iron & a touch of zinc, niacin. Some even contain a bit of beta carotene. Prunes r known for their ability to move the intestines, b’cos of their high fiber content & large amounts of the stool-loosening sugar, sorbitol.
- Raisins. high in fiber, iron, but also calories & sugar. So eat less.
- Raspberries. Of all the fruits, raspberries pack the most fiber into the fewest calories, have more folic acid, zinc than most fruits. It is difficult to wash raspberries thoroughly, making pesticides a concern.
- Strawberries. higher in vitC per calorie than any other fruit, high in fiber. hard to clean.
- Tangerine. member of the orange family with less vit C, folate, fiber than orange, but more vit A & carotenoids.
- Watermelon. top source of carotenoid antioxidant lycopene.
- Top 7 vit C fruits: Guava, Papaya, S.berries, Kiwi, C.loupe, Orange, Grapefruit

Water facts
- Blood is 80% h20 & muscles r 70% h20.
- Flows through body, delivers nutrients to cells, carries away waste.
- Body’s cooling system, moving heat to skin surface where it evaporates away in sweat & breath.
- Lubricates joints, softens skin, makes muscles work more smoothly.
- Temporary shortage of h20 in body causes “dehydration” & every organ is affected.
- U need to drink more h20 when u’re sick, pregnant, br.feeding, hot, thirsty, exercising.
- “best & most readily-available cough syrup.”
- Colon is body’s fluid regulator. If u’re not drinking enough, colon robs h20 from waste material & gives it to body, causing hard stools. People eating high-fiber diets actually increase their risk of constipation if they don’t drink extra h20 along with fiber-rich foods, since fiber needs h20 to do its intestinal sweeping job.
- Brain is a h20 loving organ. If it doesn’t get enough, it doesn’t work right. Dehydration can impair concentration, which is most apparent following sweaty exercise or doing brain work in hot weather.

Natural remedies —
- Eat bitter gourd as often as you can or drink or take 1T juice everyday. Bitter melon’s several compounds have confirmed anti-diabetic properties. Add powdered gourd seeds to food. Or boil gourd pieces in water & take decoction.
- Jambul fruit known as jamun effects pancreas. Fruits/seeds/juices are all useful.
