Right way to wash hair

  1. Comb tangles out before wetting hair so tangles would not worsen.
  2. Wet hair thoroughly under shower with warm water to open scale like cuticles of hair to wash off oil & dirt.
  3. Then wash with cold water to close cuticles & add shine to hair with gentle strokes of fingertips.
  4. Rub betn hands a dollop of shampoo, apply to scalp, not ends. Also do not mix your hair all over your head as you shampoo because it will get all tangled up. After this, rinse the shampoo off.
  5. Shampoo 2nd time as 1st time is to get rid of oil & dirt only, but 2nd time to treat hair. So let sit for sometime couple of minutes, rinse well.
  6. Hair is at its delicate when soaked, so just squeeze the water out but don’t pull or tug at hair.
  7. Apply a dollop of conditioner along hairline, nape & ends of hair, pile hair inside shower cap, leave 10mts, rinse off well.

Hair problems

Reasons for hairfall / Dandruff / any hair problem could be
(i) Excess Sweat in the head part (ii) High salt content in sweat/ blood (iii) Dust collection due to oily hair (iv) Body heat (v) Hereditory (vi) Tensions in mind.
–> Excess sweat flow can be due to working conditions / climatic conditions , or speedy blood flow in body more than needed. To regulate this , do Yoga or Pranayama that regulates blood flow. This may sound indirect or no way connected to hair loss – but a regulated blood flow is imp for any function/ growth of any element in our body.
–> To reduce salt content , take watery vegetables, melons regularly as part of everyday meal. This can help u in lot of things. Keeps body light, helps dig system with lesser work load, u’ll not feel drowsy during day  etc. Note : My everyday lunch is just a bowl of fresh cut fruits .
–> Our hair can act as a dust collector many a times , when we travel outdoor. So , cover hair with cotton scarf , do not use synthetic scarfes as it may increase the sweat ratio. Shampoo hair with natural items like paste made of hibiscus leaves , curry leaves , Amla powder etc.
–> To get rid of dandruff , fine grind h.ful methi , 20 p.corns ( white or black ), mix with curd , refrigerate it in night. Apply it on hair – touching the roots. This can act as a conditioner & dandruff killer as well.
–> Hereditory hair problems are tough to address, however constant trials can help reduce the chances of excess hair fall.  Reduction in intake of c’d food with salt, sugar, spice, addition of fresh vegs , fruits.
–> Tensions ! leads to speedy flow of blood rate than needed & sweat glands reacting to the same. So keep urself cool!

Tips to condition hair & help them grow faster, thicker, stronger.
> Msg head regularly with 2-3t olive oil.
> Chew h.ful curry leaves in morning on empty stomach, provides good amount of Iron & Prots reqd for hair growth. Also helps bowels clean with no constipation, improves eyevision.

Hair care tips

1. Apply olive oil (or Musturd Oil) at bed time and wash off the hair next morning.
2. Boil mustard oil. A regular massage of this oil is helpful.
3. Always maintain a balanced diet with exercise for healthy hair. Drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of raw fruits and vegetables is probably the best way to achieving healthy hair.
4. Wash your hair with a paste of cooked Urad dal (black beans) and fenugreek (methi) 2-3 times a week.
5. Trim the hair every 4 to 5 weeks even if you are growing it.
6. Coconut oil mixed with lime- juice on the hair applied daily is also good for hair health .
7. Don’t use any old rubber band as they tend to break or split hair. Instead just use a scrunchy or a fabric coated elastic band.
8. Don’t brush wet hair too harshly because its three times weaker and more likely to break off mid strand. Towel dry hair first, then gently detangle using a wide toothed comb.
9. Rinsing your hair with lemon juice can bring life and shine back to dull hair.
10. If you have dandruff then apply a mixture of vinegar and water on the scalp before you go to bed. Keep it overnight. Rinse your head with vinegar water again in the morning. You will see the result within few weeks.
11. Another good way to get rid of dandruff is to soak ground fenugreek seeds overnight in water and massage the paste on the head, leaving it for a few minutes and then wash it.
12. Mix Banana in Honey and apply on hair for 30 – 40 min, and then wash it for that sheen in your hair.
13. For stopping your hair from getting grey, you can mix Bhringraj (Eclipta elba), Amala, corals, iron and black sesame seeds. It is very useful and even stops the graying of hair.
14. Another good way is to keep head of healthy hair is to Apply juice of green coriander leaves on the head.
15. Massage of olive oil and almond oil on your scalp is a good cure of dandruff.
16. Mash 8s.berries with 1Tmayonnaise, msg into washed, damp hair. Cover with a shower cap, then a warm towel. Wash out with a shampoo/conditioner combination. This luscious mix of rich acidic berries will leave hair both conditioned & with rich gloss.

Hair loss

A strand of hair is made up of extruded, compacted dead cells. Everything you put into ur body eventually comes out in ur hair, usually within 3-6mths.
At hair root, all major systems r at work, including circulatory, endocrine, central nervous system. That’s why it hurts when someone pulls hair!
Every hair follicle has 4distinct phases it cycles through on a regular basis: growth, transition, resting, returning growth. A full cycle can last from 2-5yrs per follicle. Unusual hair loss & thinning occurs when a follicle is stuck in resting phase. Bald spots occur when a large group of follicles turn off all in one place. Most of the time this happens slowly, but in some severe cases can happen all at once, causing a clump of hair to fall out.
· Stress (emotional and physical)
· Hormonal imbalance, specifically androgen sensitivity
· Genetics
· Immune system irregularities
· Thyroid disorders
· Nutritional deficiencies (especially iron or vitamin A)
· Cosmetics (allergies and harsh treatments)
· Radiation/chemotherapy
· Dental treatment
· Blood loss
· Drugs
· Disease
· Surgery
· Scarring
Hair follicles can be shocked into resting phase by so many stressors — emotional, physical or cosmetic — & just as suddenly switch back to “on” when stress is reduced. Hair appears to be amazingly adaptive, which is why so many scientists believe that a cure for hair loss is right around the corner. A majority of women with moderate hair loss may notice big improvements just by paying more attention to their stress levels & their diet.

Hair care

1. Hair is at its weakest when wet. So never brush when wet.
2. As far as possible let hair dry naturally.
3. Detangle before u wash it.
4. Oil at least twice a wk or for a day before washing. Oil really does wonders for hair; coating each strand, making it shine. Besides, oil massage increases circulation, promotes hair growth.
5. Do not expose hair to strong wind, dust, pollution. Use scarf while on a 2-wheeler.
6. Wear a hat to minimize sun damage
7. Hair is made of protein, therefore adequate prot is necessary for healthy hair. Lack of vit A, B, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin, iron, copper, iodine may cause hair loss, premature greying. Lack of inositol(available in yeast, liver, molasses) is also cause for hair loss.
8. Cut down on hair dryers, straightening irons, curling irons and hot curlers.
9. Condition after shampooing, use deep conditioner once a mth. Use shampoo & conditioner that suits your hair type. For daily washes, use mild, moisturizing shampoo without harsh ingr’s like Na lauryl SO4. Don’t use too much conditioner, makes hair greasy.
10. Daily msg hair with fingertips for proper blood circulation.

Tips to help regenerate hair follicles: But they do not cure any underlying conditions or stress-related hair loss.
1. Take dietary supplements such as Vit B6, protien & Silica.

Dandruff:

3. Eat well balanced diet, make at least 50% of diet raw food.

5. Buy a natural-bristle brush that won’t pull on hair
6. Msg c.nut oil into hair, then take steam. By doing this regularly, u will get rid of split-ends.

Dry hair looks dull, lifeless, craves moisture, in most instances require prot.
1. Use moisturisers that contain “humectants” that not only replace lost moisture but actually attract moisture and retain it in the cortex of the hair.
2. Ess fatty aids(EFA’s) r great moisturizers. One of the best & most cost effective is safflower oil. Scalp produces best EFA’s called sebum, but sebum can’t reach upto entire length of hair if hair is long. Hence it is necessary that to treat dry hair, u’ve to use proper conditioners & moisturisers.
3. Use a moisturizing shampoo & conditioner
4. At beach, spread sunscreen through hair so that it doesn’t dry out.

Grey Hair: is a symptom of improper prot synthesis. Hair grows white when melanin ceases to be produced in hair follicle & sm air spaces take its place. As a person grows older & reaches middle age, more & more of these pigment cells die & color is lost from individual hairs. Early greying is basically hereditary or by stress. Pulling out grey hair will make 2grow in its place is a myth. What can happen, however, is that if ur hair is starting to turn grey & u pull 1 grey hair out, it may well be that neighboring grey hair is just about to start growing, therefore 2hairs in close proximity will appear at about same time.
1. ” Amla ” is the best cure for grey hair & falling hair. Regular msg of “amla” paste into scalp works wonders, frequently reversing processes.
2. Msg hairs with c.nut oil & lemon everyday for 15mts. There are instances of people having black hairs upto 60-70yrs using this method.
3. Soak 12 rithas, 4 shikakai pods o.n in pint water. Next day, boil for few mts, strain, use as a normal shampoo.
4. Sep’tely soak 12 dried amlas in 1/2c water o.n, strain, use as hair conditioner after head bath. Leave on hair for 10mts, rinse hair with warm water. Leaves hair smooth & shiny & also stops premature greying.
4.Beat till frothy l.juice & castor oil, mix in ‘henna’, apply evenly over scalp, bath after 1hr using ’shikakai’ & ‘ritha’ shampoo as above. This checks greying
5. 1c strong black tea without milk + 1Tsalt, cool, strain, msg it on roots. Leave it on for 1hr, rinse with cold water. Do not shampoo it.

Nourishment a) Vit A – healthy scalp, gives body, glow to hair. Include dark green vegs, orange, yellow fruits & vegs.
b) Vit B – regulates oil secretion, keeps hair healthy & moisturized. Eat greens, tomatoes, c.fl, cereals, liver kidney, yogurt, bananas, green vegs.
c) Minerals – zinc, iron, copper promote healthy hair. zinc – red meat, chicken, green vegs; iron – beef, dried apricots, red meat, parsley, eggs, wheat, sunflower seeds; copper – seafood, e.yolk, whole grains.
d) Prot – natural shine, good texture. In sprouted whole grains, cereals, meat, soy.

Exercising causes great damage to hair. Sweat will cause dirt, grease to settle in scalp etc. Tie it back, pin it up or clip it loose enough. Block sweat by wearing wide cotton headband that will absorb salt which dries out delicate roots near scalp thereby damaging hair. Avoid wearing cap while exercising, glands need to breathe. After working out, avoid taking hot shower, might damage hair. L.warm water is always best for shampooing. Conditioning is a must, will protect hair from damage.

While swimming wear cap after wetting hair c’tely. Wash hair thoroughly afterwards in order to remove chlorine. If possible, apply leave-in conditioner before u dive in. Steam baths or saunas can dry out strands. Always apply a dab of leave-in conditioner or light jojoba to strands to help offset heat.

Strong hair: Protein which is building block of hair(chicken, meats, chicken, eggs, curd, milk), B12 & Fe(asparagus, cumin, turmeric) may prevent hair loss, silica(strawberry, sunflower seeds) strengthens hair.

Shiny hair: Omega 3(salmon, sardines, tuna) encourages regrowth & prevents hair loss by feeding scalp with oils, vit E(leafy greens, broccoli, brazil nuts, walnuts, almonds, berries, coconut oil) helps scalp circulation, vitC maintains good scalp health.

Dry hair: Iodine & zinc(helps oils to get out of scalp & into the hair & thus strengthens hair, make it shiny, full) prevents dry hair & hair loss.
