Summer care
- To reverse sun damage use products that stimulate collagen & get rid of brown spots. Add retinol, AHA, Retin A, vit E, Renova or vitC into routine, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, photo facials, resurfacing can help.
- Remove dead skin cells by adding exfoliates to skin regime.
- Retinol eliminates sun damage by stimulating collagen, eliminates precancerous skin lesions, rejuvenates skin, so improves skin texture & tone.
- Alpha hydroxy acid unsticks the glue, peel away brown spots.
- FDA approved new ingredient Mexoryl filters out UVA rays. Mexoryl combined with oxtocrylene & avobenzene blocks UVA & UVB rays.
- Add sunblock into daily regimen. Best SPF to apply is 15 but apply 1shot glass full. SPF 30 or higher are best for those who don’t apply enough of SPF15. SPF15 prevents 95%of rays. Higher SPF means less sunscreen. Apply 20mts before going out, reapply every 2hrs.
- Sun burn checklist to make you feel better but dont reverse sun damage-Topical OTC Cortisone(decrease inflammation, redness, burn), advil/aspirin, cold compress with milk, oatmeal baths, aloe vera.
- Using topical anti oxidants like TNS recovery complex, vivite, prevage, revale etc help to restore damaged skin by fighting free radicals, even out skin tone.
- Products like radiesse, coppertone ultra guard are collagen fillers.
- Wash face 3times a day.

Winter care
- Colder the air, less humidity, so drier skin.
- Skin makes natural moisturisers but as we age, this lessens.
- Take shorter showers-10mts as warmer water dries you out more & release histamines which cause itching.
- Moisturize while body is damp so skin softens & is like a sponge & absorbs moisturizer right in. So dont towel fully.
- Mositurize twice a day.
- Thicker creamy ones are better compared to thinner ones.
- Safflower oil is best as has linolic acid that our body makes. Its inexpensive, odorless, can be bought @supermarkets. Put in spray bottle & spray.
- No over-scrubbing & overdrying skin.
- For dry lips, dont lick lips. Apply lip balm.

- Sweet potato- Skin is a fortress against germs & it needs vitA for production of connective tissue. Beta carotene is converted into vitA by body. 1/2c sweet potato delivers 40% of daily recommendation of vitA as beta carotene. Other foods are-orange, carrots, squash, pumpkin, cantaloupe.
- Tea- Drink 5c black/green tea every day during winter so immune system pumps out 10times more cold & flu fighting interferon-proteins that defend against infection. Also from food poisoning, infected cuts, athlete’s foot, TB, malaria, cancer.
- Chicken soup- Cold symptoms are a response to the cell’s accumulation in bronchial tubes. Amino Acid cysteine released from chicken during cooking chemically resembles bronchitis drug acetylcysteine. Soup’s salty broth keeps mucus thin the same way cough medicines do. Adding garlic & onions increase soup’s immune boosting power.
- Beef- Has immune bolstering mineral Zinc which is imp for devpt of WBC, the immune system cells that recoginze & destroy germs. Or try zic rich oysters, fortified cereals, pork, poultry, curd or milk.
- Mushrooms- They increase the production & activity of WBC, making them more aggressive which is a good thing when you have an infection. Shiitake & maitake pack the biggest immune punch.
- Fish & shellfish-Selenium increases immune cell production of proteins called cytokines that help clear flu viruses out of our body. Selenium is plentiful in oysters, lobsters, crabs, clams. Omega 3s found in Pacific salmon has highest blood levels of flu fighting T-cells & interferon-gamma cytokines.
- Garlic-Allicin in garlic fights infection & bacteria. Eat 2raw cloves a day & add to your cooking several times.
- Oats & barley-Fiber called beta-glucan has antimicrobial & antioxidant capabilities more potent than echinacea. It boosts immunity, prevents influenza, herpes, anthrax, speeds wound healing, help antibiotics work better.
- Sea weeds- like kelp, nori, sea lettuce etc that grow near sea have more vitamins & minerals than any land grown plants.
