- 61BC- Julius Caesar conquered, ruled by Rome for 500yrs.
- 800AD- Under Charlemagne, France became a powerful empire
- Many ruled later but era of Louis XIV from 1643 to 1715 was the most brilliant in French history.
- 1800- Napolean after French revolution took over & became 1st consul in 02 then in 04, proclaimed emperor.
- 12- He was driven back from Russia.
- 13- He gaven up his throne, came back to France in 15 again but was defeated at waterloo that yr & was banished to St.Helena where he died alone in 1821.
- Louis XVIII was followed by Charles X & Louis Phillippe was elected king & abdicated in 1848 when Louis Napoleon was elected president & later proclaimed himself emperor in 1851.
- 1871- France got defeated in Franco-German war & was proclaimed a republic.
- 1904- President Carnot was assassinated.
